Cork wears in, not out.
Unlike synthetic mats that degrade with every practice, cork improves. Like a great pair of jeans or your favorite linen shirt, it gets better the more you use it.
Cork is naturally antimicrobial, so your mat stays clean on its own. For daily care, a damp cloth with cold water is all you need. For a deeper clean, a mild solution of water with a touch of soap, white vinegar, or witch hazel works beautifully. Stay away from harsh chemical cleaners as they can damage your mat. Air dry completely, then roll loosely with the cork facing out. Keep it simple, cork does the work.
Breaking in your mat
During the first 2 to 3 weeks, light movement is natural as your mat activates and builds grip through heat and use. To accelerate this process, gently scrub the surface with salt using a damp cloth. It is worth the wait your mat will reward you with a lifetime of grounded, reliable practice.
